Esther Drifters

Esther Drifters is a 3D, squad-based, real time tactics game set in a Sci-Fi universe.

Play as Captain Alex Lukas and the crew of the Esther Drift - a former mining vessel turned freelancer - as they embark on a planet hopping adventure. The Drifters tread a fine line between the Confederation of Planets who seek to unite the solar system under one banner, and The Guild who fight against their oppression.

This is an in-development version of the game which includes the first level, and a combat arena. All assets are work-in-progress, and there are probably a million bugs lurking in the code, so please forgive the rough edges!

Controls

• Camera
  • Move the camera with WASD
  • Rotate the camera with middle-click and drag
  • Alternatively, hold Z and move the mouse to rotate the camera

• Character selection
  • Use the number buttons from 1 - 4 to select characters
  • Press G to select all characters
  • Left click on a character to select them
  • Left click on a character's portrait to select them

• Commands
  • Right click on the ground to move
  • Right click on cover to move to cover
  • Right click on an enemy to attack

• Abilities
  • Hold CTRL and left click to automatically lay down covering fire in an area
  • To use a character ability, press Q to activate aiming mode, then left click where you'd like to use the ability

Tips

• Always make sure you're making use of cover!
• Enemies in cover can't be hit unless you get a flanking angle.
• Fire on enemies in cover to suppress them - this stops them from running away when you flank them.
• Make use of the CTRL+Left Click 'covering fire' ability - it can be used to keep multiple enemies permanently suppressed.
